In 1982, William H. Dexter and Andrew W. Fortson founded Dexter Fortson Associates, Inc. (DFA) in response to the service needs in the utility, manufacturing, and coal mining industries. The DFA Radio Telemetry/SCADA Monitor and Control System is installed across the United States in water, wastewater, natural gas, electrical, environmental, industrial, and irrigation applications.
What we do
Our Divisions
The DFA Telemetry/SCADA Monitor and Control System ranges from simple pump and tank level control to sprawling multi-county water systems to municipal water and sewer systems including reservoir control and management.
DFA has built 115kV and 230kV transmission powerlines through the swamps of north Mobile Bay for the Alabama Power Company as well as dense 12.5kV distribution power grids for the coalbed methane industry in the Warrior Coal Basin of Alabama.
DFA remote terminal units (RTU), pivot panels and pivot monitor and control software has been installed for center pivots, linear pivots, drip irrigation, impulse sprinklers and flood irrigation.
DFA has installed Telemetry/SCADA Systems of 240 remote terminal units (RTU) to monitor and control variable speed drives for El Paso Gas Corporation of Birmingham to SCADA systems of over 1,100 RTUs to monitor and control water and gas for PGP Operating, LLC.
